Tuition Tragedy

I believe this might be the saddest true story I've ever read. It makes me want to set up a foundation to provide $400 college scholarships for Chinese peasants. Someone whose comparative advantage is organizing should do this.

Me too - although I remember another sad story in the early fifties in a Texas small town. A little Mexican migrant girl who attended school when she could and had terrible teeth. The teacher stood her up in front of the class and said she would give her A's if her mother got her teeth fixed. If her mother could afford to get her teeth fixed, don't you think she would have? And these people got to teach small children. Go figure.
