Discontinuity

Pursuant to a federal law that allocates the property interest in my cell phone number to me rather than to the dreadful AT&T Wireless, I am "porting" my familiar DC digits to T-Mobile this week. Expect service interruptions over the next couple of days as they fly through the air trying to locate my snazzy new telephone.

But will my old phone number remain "dead" due to the interruption of its consciousness, its soul gone to heaven and its place in my world taken by a clone-like impostor? Or will it be resurrected by the new service provider?

Ooh! Which phone did you get?

A Samsung E715. It's a bit less user friendly than my old Motorola flip, but has additional features I'm sure I'll like. If I ever learn how to use them, that is.
