Happy Leap Day

As you may have noticed, today is an extra day. Since we have it only once every four years, it can't be expected to add anything to the GNP, so I hope that you all have celebrated leap day as I have: by doing nothing economically productive, and perhaps by doing a thing or two that would have fallen by the wayside in the ordinary course of time.

Unfortunately, someone has neglected to declare tomorrow a Sunday...

Another great leap day activity: proposing marriage. According to law in Scotland, France, Switzerland, and Italy, a woman may propose marriage to a man only on 2/29. Wikipedia says, "The man may, of course, refuse but, by tradition, he should soften the blow by providing a kiss, one pound currency and a pair of gloves (some later sources say a silk gown)." So if you wanted to get down on one knee, it seems you've missed your chance.
