Drunk Cycling

Timothy Bradley, a hapless alcohol enthusiast whose license was suspended last year for DUI, was arrested again. This time, he is charged with intoxicated bicycle riding. A judge will decide whether the legislature intended to cover cyclers who weave under Connecticut’s drunk driving law, a decision which if adopted internationally would put the majority of residents in Ferrara, Italy in imminent danger of arrest.

Madness! This fascist pre-emptive law enforcement has to stop. We already have laws against killing and maiming people. Do we not trust people to deduce the connections between driving drunk and affecting the death of another person?

Can't each person weigh the possibility of this as it regards their tolerance, driving abilities, route home, and (especially in the case you mention) the capability of their vehicle to harm others?

Marie! You are on the fast track to policy intelligentsia. Can you please justify laws against driving intoxicated?

I have to say. I really like the font on your site. It makes everything seem so smart. That last comment even. I was trying to be bold and provocative. It came out sober as a liturgy.
