The NYT reports some incredibly disturbing allegations of physical and psychological abuse at a private reform school ironically named Tranquilty Bay. At 33k per year, the school targets wealthy parents completely at wits end with their offspring.
Former students speak of being punched, restrained in "isolation" chambers barely roomier than large steamer trunks for long periods of time, and a host of other stuff that would offend child protective services. The school maintains the students are lying, but you have to wonder why this school for rebellious young Americans is located in Jamaica.

Posted by Marie Gryphon on June 17, 2003I Was at tranQuilty Bay and this article is not even the half of it there is so much corrupt things that go on there that not only do i know about but i experienced first hand it is more than abuse when it comes to restraing it is torture cruel and unuasul punuishment to get information from us or to simply get back at the disrespect to them i wish parents would really know what goes on in there cause im out now but i have friends that are still in there that continue to go there and it is neccasary it stops it is more like a Y.A. camp more than a "Boarding school" they sell parents a bunch of crap then get there money i spent two years in that place and it was emotionally disturbing for me they basically just tell the parents were lying and its easy for them to say "hes lied to you before now hes still doing it" and parents are so far into thinking its the best for there child believe it and us kids dont get a phone call for a minimum of 3 months and by then parents are bought and already paid for graduation. I wish parents could hear my story and i wish the American Ebbasy that all us kids there believe to be are only hope finally do what is right to close it down. thank you but like i said thats not even the half of it- Silas
