Does it strike anyone else as odd that al Qaeda elected to bomb American targets in Saudi Arabia right after the U.S. declared it was leaving? Does al Qaeda want to make it more politically difficult for us to go?
Since public choice economics suggests that all institutions are driven by the goal of self-preservation, perhaps the terrorist apparatchiks think the "recruitment poster" effect is worth the hassle of having us there. After all, like our domestic social workers, they'd be unemployed in victory.
