Fire and Ice

SOME say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.

But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

- Robert Frost

(From Harper’s Magazine, December 1920.)

I love that poem! My college choir actually performed a rather weird but beautiful version set to music.

It was also used in an early issue of either Thor or Avengers to describe the twinned menace of Ymir and Surtur - the frost giant and fire creature.
Oh well ...
